Hepatitis A is a liver infection caused by virus that enters through the mouth, such as from contaminated food. Symptoms include excessive fatigue, joint and muscle pain, fever, yellowish skin, and dark urine and faeces.

AVAXIM 160 Vaccination schedule for adults
• Can be administered from age 16 onwards. Given in 2 doses with a minimum interval of 6 months.
AVAXIM 160 Vaccination schedule for Elderly
• Given in 2 doses with a minimum interval of 6 months.

Composition of AVAXIM 160 Vaccine
Each 1 dose (0.5 ml) contains:
• Hepatitis A virus inactivated by formaldehyde 160 antigen units.
• Aluminum hydroxide (expressed as aluminum) 0.3 mg.
• 2-phenoxyethanol 2.5 μL.
• Formaldehyde 12.5 μg.
• Hanks 199 medium up to 0.5 ml.
• Hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide to adjust the pH.

Side Effects of AVAXIM 160 Vaccine
Fever, stomachache, swelling and redness at the injection location.
Contraindication of AVAXIM 160 Vaccine
• Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the vaccine.
• History of severe allergy to previous Hepatitis A vaccines.
• Hypersensitivity to neomycin.
• Individuals with a history of progressive chronic illness.

Special Attention for AVAXIM 160 Vaccine
• Vaccination should be postponed in individuals experiencing fever or acute infection.
• Individuals with liver disease.
• Immune responses to the vaccine may be disrupted in individuals receiving immunosuppressive therapy or with immunodeficiency conditions.
• There is no research yet for administration in pregnant women. However, it can be administered if there are specific indications.
