Typhoid fever is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi. This infectious disease is commonly transmitted through contaminated food or drink. Typhoid fever is prevalent in many Asian countries, including Indonesia. In Indonesia, typhoid fever is classified as an endemic disease. Patients with typhoid fever may experience symptoms such as fever up to 39–40°C, headache, muscle pain, fatigue, and diarrhea.

TYPHIM VI Vaccination Schedule
TYPHIM VI Vaccination schedule for children according to Indonesian Pediatric Society recommendations
• Given 1 dose starting at 2 years of age. Then repeated every 3 years.
TYPHIM VI Vaccination schedule for adults
• Given 1 dose. Then repeated every 3 years.
TYPHIM VI Vaccination schedule for elderly
Given 1 dose. Then repeated every 3 years.

Composition of TYPHIM VI Vaccine
Each dose (0.5 ml) contains:
• Typhoid Vi polysaccharide 0.025 mg
• Phenol (preservative) max 1.250 mcg

Side Effects of TYPHIM VI Vaccine
Fever, muscle ache, pain and swollen redness at the injection site.

Contraindication of TYPHIM VI Vaccine
• Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the vaccine.
• History of severe allergy to previous vaccines.
• Previous typhoid infection
• Pregnancy
• Children below 2 years

Special Attention to TYPHIM VI Vaccine
• Vaccination should be postponed in individuals experiencing fever or acute infection.
• Individuals with a history of immunosuppressive therapy are advised to complete their therapy before vaccination.
